Review:

I really, really love this series. I read this book as fast as I could because I couldn’t wait to see what happens. Unfortunately things like work and sleep got in the way. Now that I am finished all I have to say is how much longer do I have to wait for the next book?

First I am going to start with the cover of this book. I love the cover! It is awesome and like the prequel it goes so well with the story. The cover alone makes me want to read this story. Again the clock is on the front and this time Princess Semara is on the cover whereas with Weighted the cover featured Raeth. Do I dare hope that Ryder may be on one of the covers?

The characters in this book are written wonderfully. I feel like I know them after reading this story. This story takes place 4 years after the prequel. This story is written from Princess Semara’s point of view. There is some romance in this story also. It is not insta-love nor is it fated. It just slowly builds. I thought that the romance was very well written and it is to be continued in the next book.

The ending had some definite things left open to be answered in the next books. The author really knows how to write an ending that leaves you waiting to find out what happens next and clear up some of the mystery without leaving you feeling like the book just cut off.

I can’t wait for the next in this series. I know I already said that but I really can’t wait. I hope it comes soon because waiting for this story to come out was long enough. If it wasn’t for some other issues I would have had this book read and reviewed last month. All I want to do now is go back and re-read it again! Trust me this is a great series to get in to.

Review: The Dead Have Ruled Earth for 200 Years by Noah K. Mullette-Gillman

The Dead Have Ruled Earth for 200 Years by Noah K. Mullette-Gillman

The dead have ruled earth for 200 yearsPublisher: Createspace
Publishing Date: August 24, 2012
Series: No
Genre: Science Fiction/Zombie Apocolypse
Received: Free from author for an honest review

Goodreads Summary: THE DEAD HAVE RULED EARTH FOR 200 YEARS Two hundred years after humanity was forced to abandon Earth to the zombie hordes, three humans descend in great armored battle-suits into a world populated only by the ravenous and rotting dead. They will gun down as many as hundreds and thousands of the monsters as necessary in their fight to retrieve the most important possession we left behind. Too bad one of them is and idiot. The Dead Have Ruled Earth for 200 Years is not a love story. It is not a work of spiritual mythology. It is bleeding and biting, cutting and explosions; a written rocket of death and disfigurement, with all humanity's future at stake. Get ready for a white-knuckled descent into the worst of all possible nightmares. Two centuries after the end of the world, it may be the last story of humanity's battle to survive.
Rachel's Rating:

I really love zombie books and I can’t say exactly why. This book was no exception it is true to what the description says. The author did not hold anything back in this book and it was a refreshing change. There is blood, body parts, disfigured zombies and a bleak outlook for all inhabitants on Earth. The Earth as we know it no longer exists. It is rotting away along with the undead inhabiting it. The author did a great job in describing how the Earth looks after all this time and no one to look after it.

This was not a love story and I would not have changed it a bit. The three main characters are sent from space back to Earth to retrieve something vital for humans to continue living in space. One in their party makes a mistake and it all goes downhill from there. This is the story of how humans come out after 200 years of living in space will we come out better off after this mission or are we still doomed.
By the end of this book we are also given a look into the minds and life of a zombie. These are not typical zombies some look just like we do while others not so much. The zombies are here to stay and they are multiplying even though there are no more humans living on Earth. I have to say the ending was not what I was expecting however it was a good ending and looking back I would not change it. There is no Happy Ever After when zombies are involved.

Stay tuned for the release of book 2 in the series coming October 10, 2013

Rachel's Rating:

This was a really great book to read. I enjoyed following Nicholas on the road to discovering himself. I can't wait to see how he handles everything in the next installment. In my opinion this book is fine for a younger YA group to read as well as enjoyable for adults also.

The book was very suspenseful on what Nicholas was and how he ended up on the run. The book alternates between the past and present giving some hints as to why they are always moving. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars as opposed to 5 was because at times I was frustrated with not knowing more about what he was. However this was a minor issue and it certainly did not stop me from devouring the story.

The characters in the story were very lively, likeable and well rounded. I don't feel like the author could have done any better writing them. The jealosy and competiveness found in the high school sounds accurate as well as the realtionships and dialogues between the characters. Nicholas faced not only an insecure bully and teammate in his school but also someone wants him dead.

The romance that finds Nicholas was well written and executed and his new best friend was good for some laughs. The romance was not the main focus of the story it just added to it.

I found the entire plot line was unique and certainly entertaining. I hope the author continues to keep us on our toes with this series and if he chooses to write other books I will be checking those out too. I will be waiting for this book to release come October.

Wild About You (Love at Stake, #13)

Goodreads Synopsis:
Handsome Howard...
Hunky Howard...
Hot Howard...

It's not every day that Elsa Bjornberg feels delicate, not when she hosts a home renovation show where she can effortlessly demolish a kitchen. But from the moment she meets Howard Barr, this bear of a man makes her feel like a woman. And the way he looks at her, as if she were a pot of honey he'd like to lick...

Howard is not like most men. For one thing, he's a shapeshifter. And he always thought his celebrity crush would never amount to anything more than drooling at Elsa on TV. When his meddling vampire employer gets involved, the star is suddenly within his grasp—and within a hair of her life. For an ancient curse forbids their newfound love, and Howard is suddenly torn between his desire for her and his desire to keep her alive.

Rachel's Rating:

Loved this book! This is the first book in the series that I have read and even though I can tell that you were introduced to a lot of the characters in previous stories I followed the story just fine. I give the story 4 stars.
Howard and Elsa made a good team as main characters and mates. I really enjoyed the forest animals following Elsa around aytime that she would get near the woods. The characters in this story mainly Howard had really been through a lot in his life but he still had a sense of humor and always tried to protect family and friends. That is what I loved most about him. Elsa, I loved the fact that she was always herself. All her life she had always been bigger than all the other girls and didn't fit in. She finds a place that she feels comfortable and enjoys herself.
I liked the origin story of how werewolves and were-bears came into being and the curse that followed. That made a little interesting side story also. The goddess of the Forest, Sky and Water were a really nice touch also. I also loved that Elsa's aunt had an arsenal in her trunk to protect her niece from the curse and the berserker that was destined to kill her. I hope to maybe see more about the other two goddesses in the next books. They seem to be meddling women after alll. LOL!
I would read other stories in this series. I look forward to seeing who is in the next book.
On a side note when I first looked at this cover I did not get why Howard is grey but she is in full color. After reading the book I get it now but it is only mentioned once I think in there maybe twice. When shifters are shifting back to themselves their skin turns grey until the transition is finished.
